In August 2016 I competed in a half Ironman (70.3), it was the greatest challenge of endurance that I have ever accomplished and all I could think about was how I will have to double each event to become an IRONMAN. As for the race itself, I am indifferent to my finishing time, I really enjoyed the race and I am just happy to have finished. On the run I found myself with nothing left after the first mile, I hit a mental and physical “wall,” metaphorically speaking. In the end, I realized that it was mostly a mental wall because I was able to maintain my goal pace for the last mile. I was euphoric when I saw that last mile marker and my loping gait bounced back to a stride on fumes of glucose with 69.3 down and one to go. My overall time was 5:18, not bad for my first ever half-marathon as well, placed 420th out of 2096.
